Health and wellbeing research at LUSEM
Research in this theme focuses on population health outcomes, health care systems, and mental and subjective well-being across the life course. A substantial share of the work examines mortality, morbidity, life expectancy, and causes of death, often using longitudinal, demographic, or epidemiological approaches to document trends and inequalities across social groups, cohorts, and places. Several studies analyze disparities in health outcomes, including gender and socioeconomic differences, as well as intergenerational patterns in health and survival.
Another strand evaluates health care systems, addressing access to care, quality of provision, and variation in health service performance. Mental health and well-being constitute a growing area of research, with work examining anxiety, depression, burnout, life satisfaction, and quality of life in relation to work, education, and broader social conditions.
