The Centre for Aesthetics and Business Creativity (ABC)
Integrating aesthetics into business
The ABC centre is an interdisciplinary platform, a lab, and a playground that reimagines the role of aesthetics in business research, education and practice. Since its opening in November 2024, the centre aims to enhance people’s organizational creativity and improve the existential sustainability of our lives.
For a long time, aesthetics have been an overlooked component in business school education, particularly in the realms of Business Creativity and Organizational Creativity. The Centre for Aesthetics and Business Creativity seeks to move aesthetics from its leisurely domains to the conversations on economic, technological and sustainable progress.
We aim to push the boundaries of current ideas on aesthetics by engaging with other disciplines such as art history, performance research (film, music, theatre), theology, philosophy and social psychology.
To better guide and support practice, we strive to deepen the understanding by connecting and exploring a plurality of approaches, methods and knowledges - all in which creativity can fully thrive.
With a basis of research-generated knowledge, the ABC centre also works with renewing the realm of the virtual to enable new forms of actualization. Such speculative, prototype-driven actualization is done with partners from business communities, cultural institutions, public organizations, as well as academia elsewhere.
The ethics in aesthetics
The creation, entrepreneuring and innovation of meaningful things is the “ethic in the aesthetic”. The need to use more resources for this is now widely recognised on national, European and global levels.
In the same ways as the New European Bauhaus initiative, the ABC Centre also seeks to contribute to a sustainable and beautiful life - fostering creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation for a meaningful future.
