LU Case Day 2024
Welcome to the 11th LU Case Day. We invite engaged teachers, researchers, and students who want to share experiences and reflections connected to the case pedagogy. The theme of the 2024 seminar is:
Case teaching and active learning – the importance of the physical environment.
Interest in case-based and active learning have have grown enormously since LUCA started ten years ago. We see many different initiatives in diverse disciplines and educational programs. At Lund University and elsewhere. Changing and developing a curriculum is a fairly quick process (if we discard some of the administrative procedures). A much slower process is how the physical environment develops. What is designed and built today are supposed to last for several decades. In this meeting we will therefore focus on the importance of the physical setting, and how it can facilitate active learning.
We envision half a day where we start where we are, i.e the new active learning room “Teknodromen”. First the thoughts and ideas behind the room. Next, we will get testimonials from two different courses that use the room in different ways. We will also participate in an active learning exercise in structural engineering, to gain first-hand experience.
The day will hopefully end by formulating a statement about how different characteristics of the room can facilitate active learning.

LUCA
While the invitation is issued by Lund University Case Academy (LUCA) it is LUCA, LUSEM, CEE (Centre for Engineering Education) at LTH, and MedCUL who join forces to host this event.
The Case method
At LUSEM the case method is one of the cornerstones of LUSEM’s present and future teaching and learning approaches.
