Next year: 10th anniversary
This year marked the 9th anniversary of the FEK Table Tennis Tournament. That implies that next year... indeed, it will mark the 10th anniversary! The tournament was first inaugurated in 2013 and with the exception of 2017, where the reasons have faded into obscurity, and the years 2020 and 2021, when Covid restrictions prevented its occurrence, the tournament has been a consistent annual event since its inception.
In the 2024 edition, 20 players participated in the thrilling tournament, which encompassed all the essential elements that characterise an exciting competition: speed, powerful smashes, skilful spins, sweat, tears, and a lot of joy. The proceedings were overseen by judges Igor Plicanic, Tomas Sjö and Markus Björklund, who meticulously maintained the order of play. The afternoon also delivered strategic manoeuvres, unwavering dedication, spirited competition, an enthusiastic crowd, and, naturally, the victorious champions, along with the runners-up and third-place finishers, all accomplishing commendable feats.
Following an intense and gripping final, the Head of FEK, Niclas Andrén, had the honour of presenting the coveted challenge cup to the champions of the 2024 FEK Table Tennis Tournament: Yuqing Zhao and Djevdet Iséni! Congratulations!
The FEK Table Tennis Tournament serves as a great opportunity for colleagues to come together in a spirit of collegiate fun and enjoyment. As Niclas Andrén aptly describes it, “The tournament exemplifies how simple measures can create enjoyable and meaningful gatherings for colleagues."
