Commissioned education

– courses and programmes for professionals

Commissioned education consists of courses and programmes offered by universities or higher education institutions for a fee to professionals in companies, authorities or organisations. It should be adapted to the participants’ needs, but can have different formats, such as open courses, tailor-made for a specific organisation, one-day seminars or year-long programmes. It can be international, national, regional or local, with or without credits. Commissioned education is an important part of ensuring that professionals can acquire new knowledge throughout their careers and of addressing society’s competence needs and promoting lifelong learning.

Why commissioned education?

Commissioned education gives you as a researcher and teacher an opportunity to disseminate your research, to contribute to community development and to solve challenges in society. It furthermore gives you the opportunity to get valuable input from professionals who are active in your field/industry regarding their needs and experiences. This can in turn contribute to continuously enhancing the quality of our activities at LUSEM and Lund University and creating new collaborations and partnerships. This could also include delivering on-site trainings at organisations both in Sweden and abroad.

Since the beginning of 2025, LUSEM has had an in-house office for commissioned education at the faculty level. The office is the focal point for external queries, offers support to staff at LUSEM who wants to engage in commissioned education and supports the faculty management with strategic advice in this area.
