Nexus seminar series
Nexus is an advanced seminar series at LUSEM, designed to foster collaboration and dialogue across departments. It brings together researchers and teachers to explore interdisciplinary themes in depth. Each session focuses on a topic of broad interest, creating a space where diverse perspectives converge to inspire new ideas and deepen shared understanding.

LUSEM’s Nexus Series on AI
The rapid development of AI is reshaping research, teaching, and society at large, presenting both opportunities and challenges. AI offers new methods of data generation but also raises ethical and legal concerns, such as compliance with regulations. In research, AI assists in data analysis, drafting, and translation; in education, it supports lesson preparation and assessments, necessitating adherence to ethical guidelines. Broader applications include task automation and decision making in sectors like healthcare and governance. However, AI’s potential for bias, privacy risks, job displacement, and inequality highlights the need for responsible integration.
The growing importance AI will be explored during the Nexus seminar series during 2025. This series will allow staff involved in AI-related projects to share insights and discuss AI’s broader implications. The goal is to inspire colleagues and expand knowledge on AI’s usage and societal impact.
Three tracks
The Nexus Seminar Series on AI follows three tracks. Within each track, there are researchers affiliated with Nexus who both conduct research and give lectures on the specific subject area. More information below (updated continuously).
Blerim Emruli
Role in Nexus: Coordinator of the AI in Teaching (AIT) track
Seminar title: Implications of Generative AI for Business Education: Insights from Literature and Personal Experience
Seminar overview: The presentation will explore the implications of generative AI for business education, drawing on insights from academic literature—primarily within the field of Information Systems—as well as personal teaching experience and observations from LUSEM and Lund University. The seminar will consist of a half-hour presentation by the speaker and a roundtable discussion enriched with interactive insights gathered through Mentimeter.

Seminar title: Large Language Models in Higher Education: Pedagogical Implications
Seminar overview: This seminar explores the implications of Large Language Model (LLM) use in higher education, by both students and faculty, with a focus on teaching and learning. The aim is to foster a collegial discussion around strategic and pedagogical questions—such as how to balance the need to equip students with AI-related competencies for the labor market while ensuring that LLM use does not undermine meaningful learning processes. The seminar will begin with a brief presentation to frame the topic, followed by structured group discussions.

Seminar title: AI and the Job market.
Seminar overview: This research explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping the job market. We examine which types of jobs are disappearing or emerging, and how these changes affect both white-collar and blue-collar workers. We also highlight the challenges and opportunities that companies face in adapting to this evolving landscape.

Miranda Kajtazi
Seminar title: AI and Digital Justice
Seminar overview: This research explores the intersection of digitalisation, AI’s societal impact, and human rights through an interdisciplinary lens, aiming to advance digital justice from a global perspective in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. This research is driven by two pressing questions: how can we proactively design AI with human rights at its core, and why achieving digital justice is becoming increasingly difficult in an automated world?
