“External engagement is at the centre of what happens at Leeds University Business School (LUBS), be it with partner companies, NGOs or alumni. It’s a bridge between these levels and the students, researchers and teachers at our school and a high priority of our’s”, says Anna France, relationship manager at LUBS.

Together with her colleague David Gardner, operations manager of external engagement, Anna is on a study visit at LUSEM.

Just like LUSEM, LUBS is a triple-accredited business school, and other similarities are that both are faculties at larger universities that attract many students internationally. A significant difference that Anna noted though, is that our Swedish students do not pay a tuition fee, whereas their UK students pay approximately £9000 pounds a year.

The reason behind the visit is actually connected to LUSEM's EQUIS reaccreditation. Julia Bennel, the Executive Dean at LUBS was part of the EQUIS team that reviewed LUSEM this winter. She recommended David and Anna to visit the School in Lund, since they were looking for examples of best practices in external relations. David explains that LUSEM had appeared on their radar before, but now they decided to reach out.

We hope you have enjoyed your stay, and we are also very curious about your impressions.

“It has been great and there are really so many similarities between our schools. One thing that made a big impression on me was how proud everyone is to work at Lund University. It comes across, and also everyone is so generous with their time and answering our questions”, says Anna.

During their visit they have been introduced to LUSEM's work with external partners, fundraising, alumni, career services, the international office and how the work is done with the international platform GDE. That and a tour of Lund sum up a busy visit that hopefully leads to further contacts between our business schools.

A safe trip back David and Anna, it was a pleasure to have you here!
