IT News: New mobile phone subscriptions; a new support centre; and update on 2G/3G coverage

In March 2026, the University will switch telephone operator to Telia. A new portal for support and cases will open soon. 

Telephony: New mobile phone subscriptions after 11 March 2026

Lund University is implementing a change of supplier for telephony services. The transition to the new supplier, Telia, will take place on 10 and 11 March 2026.

The new portal for support and cases will open soon 

On 1 December, the new portal for support and cases, Supportcenter, will open. There, you will find guides and log cases relating to various services including IT, finances and HR. The portal will be very simple at launch, but will be developed quickly.

The 2G and 3G networks are being switched off – what you need to know

On 1 December 2025, the 2G and 3G mobile networks will be switched off in Sweden. The University’s current telephony supplier, Tele2, has identified a risk that it will not be possible to make calls with certain mobile phones when the network is shut down. This may be because the phones lack the capacity for calls over the 4G network (VoLTE).
