How often do you get to be the best in the world at something? Even more meaningful when it's for leading the way in sustainability — as Lund University was recently ranked #1 globally by QS.
In research, we’re proud to welcome a new Wallenberg Academy Fellow at LUSEM and a new member of IVA. We’re also part of a national research centre on women’s health, we have launched a new taxation network, and we organised the World Economic History Congress — the largest scientific congress ever held in Lund, with over 1,200 researchers participating. Just to mention some examples.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
2025 was a strong year for LUSEM – in rankings, applications, and visibility. In the FT Masters in Management Ranking, LUSEM became the second highest ranked in Sweden and retains its global position at #47, and in the FT Masters in Finance we climbed to #42. LUSEM was also once again listed among the top 100 European business schools, ranked #75 in the FT European Business School Rankings. And Lund University overall, climbed to #72 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
During 2025 application numbers reached record levels. The Swedish Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics (Ekonomie kandidatprogrammet) ranked as the second most applied-to programme across all of Lund University. The most popular programme for the 2025 autumn's international round in Sweden, across all categories was our Bachelor's programme in International Business and five of Sweden’s ten most popular Master’s programmes are at LUSEM. For spring 2026 the figures look even better; the Ekonomie kandidatprogrammet is Sweden’s most popular programme in its field.
Our researchers regularly contribute to public debate through seminars and frequent media appearances. In some areas, they’ve become the go-to experts for journalists — a few examples are highlighted in this issue.
A lot has also happened on the AI front this year: the NEXUS seminar series has attracted many participants and broadened perspectives on AI through insights from our various experts, AI is becoming increasingly integrated into teaching, and even this year’s Kulturnatten featured AI as its theme.
Last but not least, on the collaboration side new agreements have been signed and collaborations launched with exciting partners in the business sector – for example Alfa Laval, Biotech Heights, Medicon Village, The Loop, and Media Evolution. Just to mention a few.
Of course, a great deal more has also taken place at LUSEM over the past year across all three pillars—education, research, and external engagements. The everyday work that is essential to keeping the organisation running as smoothly as it does is not even covered here. These are highlights, selected snapshots, and examples. Together, they offer a glimpse of the breadth, depth, and ongoing development of our work at LUSEM.
Anyway, an eventful and successful year to be proud of – and one to build on, we look forward to building on this momentum in 2026!
