Connecting Student and Society

Collaborate with our students

Collaborating with Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) means getting to know our students, your future employees. Through recruitment activities, internships, projects, theses, cases, and other forms of externally engaged learning, students gain experience of real-world contexts while organisations gain meaningful ways to engage with the school and our students.

LUSEM works strategically with a long-term perspective to connect academia and the business community. Through close partnerships, meeting places are created where companies can engage with the talent of the future and contribute valuable insights, while students gain a concrete understanding of the opportunities offered by working life.

Whether you are looking to meet students around career opportunities or collaborate around broader challenges and learning activities, this is where to start.

Why this matters

Our collaboration activities help students connect academic learning with society and working life. They also create opportunities for organisations to contribute to education, meet talent, and build valuable connections with LUSEM.

Guest lectures

Partner companies can make a meaningful impact by sharing their expertise through guest lectures at LUSEM. This engagement allows organisations to showcase real-world insights, trends, and best practices directly to students, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Through guest lectures, companies not only contribute to high-quality education but also build long-term connections with future leaders and the academic community, creating value for both students and the organisation.

Thesis writing and society challenges

Our students write theses in the final phase of both bachelor’s and master’s programmes. Some programmes have the opportunity to write their thesis in collaboration with a company or an organisation to meet current society challenges.

Company presentations

Partner companies can engage with students by delivering company presentations, providing an opportunity to introduce their organisation, culture, and career opportunities directly to the next generation of talent. Through company presentations, organisations not only promote themselves effectively, but also contribute to a dynamic learning environment where students gain practical insights and inspiration from real-world business experiences.

Job shadowing a manager

Master’s students enrolled in the Master in Management program are given an assignment designed to provide a practical understanding of management. As part of the assignment, students shadow and observe a manager for a period of three to five days. This is followed by reflective discussions on leadership and on what the student has observed during the experience.

Company visits

Partner companies can host company visits, giving students a firsthand look at their operations, culture, and business practices. These visits create a unique opportunity to showcase the organisation beyond traditional presentations. They allow organisations to showcase their business in action, inspire students, and create a pipeline of engaged, informed, and motivated future talents.

Roundtable discussions

Students will have the opportunity to engage in informal conversations with representatives from partner companies within a specific industry. Through open dialogue and interactive discussions, students gain valuable insights into the industry, while common myths and realities are explored. At the same time, companies gain a deeper understanding of what matters most to the next generation entering the workforce.

Case teaching and learning

The case method of teaching and learning, as applied at LUSEM, helps students develop ways of understanding a corporation’s problems and contributing to their solution. Working with cases in general, and case competitions in particular, provides a natural intersection for university students to engage with society and learn about business in different contexts and industries, and vice versa. Examples of case-related co-operations include judging, live cases and production of cases.

Mentor

The mentorship programme enables mentors to share their professional and personal experience and expertise with current LUSEM master students. As a mentor, you have the opportunity to share your expertise and experience to inspire LUSEM students as they embark on their career journeys.

Leadership academy

Leadership Academy has been offered at LUSEM since 2007. The programme is taught by teachers from LUSEM and is offered to full-time employees in student organisations at Lund University.

By engaging with the Leadership Academy, partner companies can help future leaders and equipped them with practical leadership tools, strong self-awareness, and a long-term leadership mindset. The programme strengthens participants’ capacity to lead change, collaborate effectively, and navigate uncertainty. Partnership with the Leadership Academy enables companies to contribute to leadership development at an early stage, strengthen their employer brand, and connect with future talent prepared to lead both today and tomorrow.
