Susanne Arvidsson – Director of centre

Susanne Arvidsson (director of SSCEN) is associate professor in finance and accounting at Lund University. Susanne has extensive research experience in the field of sustainability and sustainable/transition finance and heads several successful interdisciplinary research projects including Mistra BIOPATH and Nature by Numbers. She has also long experience from executive education and has been involved in several capacity building programs related to Agenda 2030. Susanne is chairman of Dagens Industri’s Swedish Corporate Sustainability Ranking and is initiator of the conference SUBREA and its network with close to 200 members from companies, governments, authorities, NGOs and senior researchers at both national and international level.

Lars Bengtsson

Lars Bengtsson is a full Professor in Industrial Engineering and Management at Lund University, Faculty of Engineering LTH. His research focuses on corporate strategy, innovation management and business model innovation related to sustainability and digitalisation opportunities and challenges. The research has been published in leading strategy, innovation and sustainability management research journals such as Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Innovation Management, and Organisation Science. He has 25 years of experience in teaching, at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate level as well as in executive education in the areas of strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship both in Sweden and internationally.

Thomas Kalling

Thomas Kalling is a Professor of Strategic Management at the Department of Business Administration at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University. His research focuses on societal change and corporate strategies in times of shifts in technology, politics and the economy. Thomas Kalling is the Director of the Institute for Innovation Management at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University, which hosts several research projects directly connected to these themes and are conducted in close collaborations with corporations and government agencies.

Lars J. Nilsson

Lars J. Nilsson is Professor of Environmental and Energy Systems Studies and Head of the Department of Technology and Society at Lund University. His research focuses on industrial decarbonisation and co-evolution with energy system transitions in the perspective of circular economy, electrification, industrial development and climate policy strategies. He was Coordinating Lead Author for the WG III contribution to the IPCC AR6 (chapter 11 on Industry) and a Lead Author for the Summary for Policy Makers. He is a member of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change since 2022.

Fredrik Nilsson

Fredrik Nilsson is Professor of Packaging Logistics at the Department of Design Sciences, LTH. His research is about the understanding of how sustainable innovation and renewal can occur in inter-organisational contexts with special focus on the benefits and opportunities for customers/users and society. Based on the application and development of complexity theory for the creation of successful change processes, current research focuses on circular supply chains and sustainable supply chain innovations in food, consumer products and healthcare settings.
