Annually, THE World University Rankings produces the 'World University Rankings by subject'. In the most recent release on October 26, Lund University improved its standing in seven subjects, securing a position among the world's top universities in six of them. Notably, within LUSEM, the Business and Economics subjects achieved the top rank in Sweden, ascending from 86th place last year to 82nd this year.

Lund University consistently ascends in THE rankings each year, with the Business and Economics subjects consistently achieving top rankings. Dean Mats Benner is naturally delighted and content upon receiving this positive news again this year.

What impact does this have on LUSEM's brand?

“LUSEM has high aspirations on all counts, but we are not least proud of our scientific esteem. The THE ranking shows that our research indeed does make a difference and that it brings light to the world,” Mats Benner says.

Business and management; part of LUSEM's profile and brand

While rankings have their place in recognizing achievement, the current focus on business and management, as subjects, holds intrinsic interest. These areas constitute integral components of the LUSEM's profile and brand. Without them, the faculty would not have been so closely associated with the prevailing ranking criteria.

The globally prestigious ranking of the Business and Economics subjects is evident. Why do they continue to constitute such an appealing choice for university students? Martin Blom, Vice Dean with special responsibility of education, and likely one of those who holds the most comprehensive knowledge regarding the sustained global popularity and annual growth in both rankings and appeal of these subjects, says:

“Studies in business and economics are important in order to understand our contemporary society, and it still constitutes a solid base for an interesting and rewarding career in management, banking, et cetera.”

Well-established tradition of actively participating in rankings

LUSEM has a well-established tradition of engaging in rankings, and this subject-specific ranking stands as one of numerous important indicators that things are on the right track. But why do rankings have such importance? Among those deeply involved in such matters is the School's Quality assurance coordinator, Margareta Dackehag.

Why do you believe the ranking of our subject Business and Economics holds significance?

“It is a mark of quality, showing that teaching and research at LUSEM continue to hold an internationally high standard. It further strengthens the currency of a LUSEM degree,“ Margareta explains.

LUSEM's most significant subjects have once again thus received high global recognition, underscoring the commitment to excellence and a successful trajectory. This reaffirms the importance of maintaining the current approach and continue with the business. As usual.
