Conference on Entrepreneurship and Finance in memory of Ola Bengtsson 
 
Lund, May 28-29, 2015
 
Ola Bengtsson was a scholar whose work focused on entrepreneurship, small business finance, and venture capital. After receiving his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2006, Ola taught at Cornell and at the University of Illinois. In 2012, he joined Lund University in Sweden as Full Professor of Finance and Director of the Knut Wicksell Centre for Financial Studies (KWC). Ola tragically passed away in January 2014, and in honor of his memory a conference was held in Lund, Sweden, on May 28-29, 2015.
 
The conference, which was partially funded by VINNOVA had a total of 50 participants and 13 academic papers on the program. Manish Gupta, one of the authors who also won the PhD contest got to present his academic paper during the conference.

Conference on Institutions and Finance

Lund, December 6, 2013

This conference brought  together a small circle of prominent economists for a seminar to discuss the interplay between national and international institutional arrangements and development of the financial sector. The recent financial crisis and its aftermath have highlighted the importance of both formal and informal institutions in the financial sector for the real economy. 

Karolina Ekholm (Swedish Riksbank), Lars Jonung (Lund University), Donato Masciandaro (Bocconi University), Alan Morrison (Oxford University), and Jesper Rangvid (Copenhagen Business School) presented their recent research and initiated fruitful discussion in the audience. 

The event was co-organized by the research group for Comparative Institutional Analysis and Knut Wicksell Center for Financial Studies.

Conference on Institutions and Finance
 
Lund, June, 10-11, 2013
 
The Wicksell Centre organized a conference on entrepreneurial finance on June 10th and 11th, 2013. The conference, which was generously funded by VINNOVA, had 12 academic papers on the program. David Robinson, Duke University, gave a keynote speech that highlighted that banks provide important funding for entrepreneurial firms.
 
A total of 45 participants attended the conference, including faculty members from University of Virginia, HEC Paris, Indiana University, University of Amsterdam, Oxford, Queens University, Tilberg University and from several Nordic universities.
