This platform will explore the interaction between the institutional framework – in particular taxes – and economic efficiency, stability and welfare. The European Commission’s Innovation Union, a flagship initiative in the Europe 2020 strategy, highlights the need to improve conditions and access to finance for innovations, in order to ensure that innovative ideas can be turned into products and services. In line with this strategy, research within this platform will focus on the interaction between entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, private equity funds and established firms in the innovation and restructuring process, especially how financial institutions, regulations and taxes influence these interactions.
Examples of ongoing research projects:
- Entrepreneurial Innovations and Taxation
- International income taxation of financial instruments
- Credit risk and corporate restructuring
- Globalization and board composition
