Research communications workshop

About the news logics of journalists and media; and discussions on if, when, why and how to communicate your research.
Why is this important for you as a researcher?
Building a personal brand of expertise is a career move both within academia and on the outside.
Making your research known to a wider public and not least to decision makers increases the chances of it actually being used and making a difference.
With pinpointed output, some elementary knowledge about the media landscape and a bit of determination you can become the go to person for journalists, within a specific field.
This workshop will help you bring attention to LUSEM, your research and your personal brand in the eyes of a wider audience.
You: a doctoral student (PhD student), a postdoc or a young researcher starting your career at LUSEM.
What to expect: A workshop in three parts.
- In part one, you will take part of examples of LU and LUSEM research communication at home and learn what research communication is, with a specific focus on popular science.
- The second part includes an interactive lecture/workshop onsite in Lund with LUSEM communications officers Peter Kjällkvist and Louise Larsson.
- In part three, which is hands-on, you will write up your own press release, debate article (or other popular science news item) and get individual feedback on it.
When: Workshop 28 January 09:15–12:00 at EC1:134
Take-home assignments 28 January – 12 February, and feedback by appointment 24 February – 12 March.
