Human Rights is one of Lund University’s five profile areas. The profile area aims for excellence in research, education, and external collaboration – nationally and globally – in human rights as an interdisciplinary field. One goal is to facilitate the initiation of new research ideas with potential to secure external funding. Another goal is to build a well-connected community of interdisciplinary researchers in Human Rights at Lund University. The profile area Human Rights now offers an opportunity to apply for seed money (25 000-75 000 SEK) for initiation of interdisciplinary and innovative research ideas, groups or project proposals.
Instructions
- The applicant has to be a member of the Human Rights Profile Area and employed at Lund University. (An overview of the profile area members can be found on LU´s research portal: https://portal.research.lu.se/en/organisations/lu-profile-area-human-ri…)
- The research group needs to be interdisciplinary and can include external participants. We encourage research groups to include early-career researchers.
- Grant period: Autumn 2024-Spring 2025
- Submission deadline: 1 November 2024.
The application must include:
A clear description of the research initiative (max 500 words), consisting of aims (including relevance and novelty of the proposed initiative), activities, participants, how it fits and promotes interdisciplinary human rights research generally and the Human Rights Profile Area specifically, and how this is a new initiative.
Budget with specified expected costs. The money can be used e.g. for activities or hiring of research assistant(s), but not for researchers’ salaries. Include overhead costs in the budget, or check with your institution if there are possibilities to co-finance.
CV of the applicant, including link to updated Lucris-page, and names and affiliations of other participants.
The application should be written in English and submitted as a pdf-file to info [at] humanrights [dot] lu [dot] se (info[at]humanrights[dot]lu[dot]se) . Incomplete applications will not be considered. We expect to fund roughly three initiatives. There will be another opportunity to apply in the spring of 2025.
Selection process: Applications are assessed by the profile area’s management team and decisions will be communicated around 15 November 2024. Project reporting: Successful applicants are expected to submit an economic report on how the funds were used and to present the initiative at the Profile Area's Human Rights Lunch Online seminar as well as contribute a post on the Profile Area's blog.
