Entrepreneurship, Ownership and Finance

EOF@Lund (Entrepreneurship, Ownership and Finance) is a research group financed by Tetra Laval (TetraPak) donation (15,000,000 SEK – 1,400,000 EUR) that explores the role of ownership in entrepreneurial firms and its impact on the way in which firms finance their activities. EOF@Lund research covers innovative forms of finance such as equity crowdfunding (i.e. the involvement of a large crowd as shareholders in innovative startups) and initial coin offerings (a form of finance for highly technical startups based on blockchain technology). Moreover, the research team also investigates traditional sources of finance with a particular attention to the relation between entrepreneurs and banks as well as entrepreneurs and business angels.

The group was set up in 2019, and involves: Dr. Johannes Gartner (PostDoc – his focus is on the role of ownership and team characteristics on the amount of funds raised during an ICO campaign, and on the post ICO token performance); Dr. Zahida Sarwary (PostDoc – her focus is on the capital structure of medium firms listed on alternative stock exchange in Nordic countries); Ms Camilla Civardi (PhD student – her research explores the relationship between equity crowd funders and the entrepreneurs); Mr Joao Maria Jorge (PhD student – his research looks at owners’ financing decision in technological small businesses); Mr Kalyan Pasumarthy (PhD student – his research investigates the role of business angels groups in financing entrepreneurial firms).

The research at EOF@Lund implies the involvement of academics from other European Universities.
