Seminar on Organizing Color

In a world saturated with color, how do we make sense of its power? How do industries - capital, management, governance, science, and the arts - navigate its allure and unpredictability?
In Organizing Color: Toward a Chromatics of the Social (Stanford University Press, 2024), Timon Beyes explores color not just as aesthetics but as a fundamental force shaping our social realities.
A Professor of Sociology of Organization and Culture at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Beyes argues that color is more than surface - it's a medium through which power, meaning, and influence flow.
The book, which has been recognized with the prestigious 2024 Choice Award for Outstanding Academic Title, rethinks aesthetic capitalism and the sensory dimensions of our world, offering a bold new perspective on how we see, and organize, color in everyday life.
