Lecture by Jonathan Levy

On 22 September, Jonathan Levy, world-leading historian of capitalism and Professor at Sciences Po in Paris, will visit Lund and give a lecture based on his ongoing book project on the history of money. The lecture is titled "Midas Touch: On the Demand for Money in History".

Levy is the author of several important books and articles in the field of history of capitalism; the books are Freaks of Fortune: The Emerging World of Capitalism and Risk in America (Harvard University Press, 2012), Ages of American Capitalism: A History of the United States (Random House, 2021), and, most recently, The Real Economy: History and Theory (Princeton University Press, 2025).

The seminar is a joint arrangement by the Department of History and the Department of Economic History, in the "Arbete och försörjning" seminar series, and is sponsored by a grant from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
