Honorary Doctor lecture – Sigrid Hemels
With a strong presence at LUSEM since 2018, Professor Sigrid Hemels has inspired master's students and researcher colleagues alike. We are proud to have her as our new honorary doctor and look forward to her lecture on 28 May.
Springtime brings some of the finest times to Lund and our University's traditions erupt and blossom along the magnolias in Lundagård. There is the last of April, the first of May, Lundakarnevalen and of course the doctoral degree conferment ceremony. This year LUSEM has the honor of welcoming Professor Sigrid Hemels as our new honorary doctor. As such she will give the traditional honorary doctor lecture on 28 May, one day before the official ceremony.
"Sigrid is a Professor of Tax Law at Erasmus University and as a permanent member of the Dutch Council of State which speaks to both scholarly excellence and public responsibility. In addition, her active presence at our School has enriched our academic environment. She has taught, supervised, and inspired many of our master’s students, and participated fully in our research community through seminars, discussions, and collaborations.
The fact that she has taken on the challenge of learning Swedish in order to engage more deeply in our academic life reflects both her commitment and collegial spirit", says Dean Joakim Gullstrand.
