Career in Economic and Sustainable Development
Have you ever wondered what it is like to work in economic development? Are you curious about what a career in the development sector could look like, or maybe how to get there?
Welcome to join in when LUSEM Career Services invites you to an engaging talk with two people with broad knowledge and experiences in the field. Eva Bursvik and Anton Ottosson will tell us all they know about careers in economic and sustainable development and answer all the questions you might have on the topic.
Eva Bursvik graduated with an MSc Business Administration and Economics - International Business Programme (French) from Lund University in 1991. She has spent her career working with economic development in Southern and East Africa, primarily in trade policy and regional economic integration, but also private sector development, women’s economic empowerment, financial sector development and microfinance. Employers have included Sida, European Commission, UN International Trade Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science, and a number of years as an independent consultant. She has lived in Southern Africa for 25 years with her family, dogs and horses.
Anton Ottosson is a graduate from the first cohort of the BSc in Economy & Society at LUSEM and graduated in 2022. For his thesis he did a field study in Tanzania focusing on the role of mobile money and technology as a catalyst for economic growth. Thereafter, he spent a semester as an intern at Sida at the Unit of Global Economic Development where he worked with grants relating to financial stability, trade and women's economic empowerment. Since the fall of 2023 he is taking his MSc in Economics at Stockholm School of Economics. Besides his studies he has taken on the role as a CFO in a management start-up. He, like many of you, is hoping for a career within the development sector.
