The 8th Swedish Conference in Economics was held at Lund University School of Economics and Management in Lund, Sweden, on 15-16 November 2024.

With over 100 high-quality presentations by both junior and senior economists the Swedish Conference in Economics was a success! The conference included a very good key note by Olle Folke and Johanna Rickne, who were awarded the Assar Lindbeck medal. There was also a concluding thought-provoking panel debate on the question of whether we can afford to work less.

The 8th Swedish Conference in Economics was held at Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM) on 15-16 November 2024. The conference was a joint arrangement by the Swedish Economic Association (Nationalekonomiska Föreningen) together with the Department of Economics at Lund University.

The conference brought together researchers in economics and others interested in economic research with a goal to foster increased interaction among economics researchers across Sweden and improve opportunities for mobility between departments. It also seeks to provide a platform for ministries, government agencies, and other stakeholders to stay informed about the latest research developments in Sweden. Additionally, the event offered doctoral students a chance to connect with potential employers and serves as a natural forum for discussions on education and research policy in economics.

In connection with the conference there was an award ceremony for the Assar Lindbeck Medal for 2023 that was awarded to Johanna Rickne, professor of economics at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University, and Olle Folke, professor of political science at the Department of Political Science, Uppsala University, for their innovative research on gender equality and political economy.
