The Pontus Roos Memorial Foundation, represented by the committee member Erik Wengström, have announce the winner of this year’s stipend.
Pontus Roos was a creative and resourceful person, firmly convinced that practical problems in the industrial and service sector could benefit from advanced economic analysis. The aim of the Foundation is to annually award a stipend to a PhD student or a young researcher in economics at Lund University.
This years stipend is awarded to Laura Bruno-Johansen with the motivation:
"Laura’s project will examine an important research question: What are the long-term effects of child-parent visitation following out-of-home placement. While visitation decisions are a central part of child welfare policy, surprisingly, there is currently no causal evidence on whether maintaining contact with parents benefits or harms the children. This project aims to change that by using unique case records from the Danish National Social Appeals Board linked to nationwide administrative registers at Statistics Danmark. Finding an answer to the research question is of great value to society."
