Lund has been named Sweden’s best student city for 2026 in a ranking by studentum.se, weStudents and Future Place Leadership. The ranking is based on a survey in which students from across Sweden answered questions about their student cities, which were assessed across four areas:
- Student satisfaction
- Social aspects
- Business connections
- Amenities and urban qualities
As well as winning first place, Lund tops two of the categories – Sweden’s most sociable student city is also home to Sweden’s happiest students.
Agnes Ask, President of the student union at LUSEM, LundaEkonomerna, is delighted that Lund has been recognised as Sweden’s best student city, but is not surprised by the result.
“It’s incredibly good news, but not entirely unexpected either. Lund is an absolutely fantastic city to be a student in. Beautiful surroundings, a wonderful cultural scene and, not least, extremely talented and ambitious students who are committed to making Lund Sweden’s best student city,” says Agnes.
Something for everyone
When Emma, a student on the international Bachelor’s programme International Business, was interviewed earlier this spring, she shared how student life had opened up a range of social opportunities for her.
"When I moved to Lund, I didn’t know anyone here, but student life has really given me the chance to find lots of different social circles. I like the culture of being able to meet up spontaneously and have a coffee or go for dinner without it having to be anything too fancy,” says Emma.
Emily, who is studying the Bachelor’s Programme in Design of Information Systems, Systemvetenskapligt kandidatprogram, was also interviewed during the spring. She highlighted the variety of Lund's student life and the fact that there’s something to suit everyone.
"There’s something for everyone, from sports clubs to nightclubs," says Emily. "Personally, I usually go to the language café and attend LundaEkonomerna’s events for students at LUSEM. For example, every year they organise eeeDays, which is a large career fair."
