How can performing arts contribute to innovation, collaboration, and new ways of thinking across sectors?

These questions were at the heart of Riksteatern’s workshop Performing Arts and Innovation in Cross-Sector Collaboration, a national gathering in Stockholm held yesterday, where Lund University Professor Daniel Hjorth participated.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants from universities, cultural institutions, government, research organisations, innovation environments, and the performing arts sector. Representatives included professors and researchers, theatre leaders, choreographers, artists, innovation offices, public sector actors, and specialists in immersive technologies, AI, VR, and digital performance.

During the lunch seminar, Daniel Hjorth presented Aesthetics, Business, and Creativity: Innovation’s New ABC, highlighting the importance of aesthetics and artistic perspectives in shaping future approaches to innovation and organisational development.

This type of engagement is part of the centre’s long-term work to explore how artistic thinking and creative practices can contribute to innovation, leadership, and cross-sector transformation in a rapidly changing world.
