“It occurred to me that we actually have Copenhagen nearby, so I started looking for jobs there. Most of the adverts said that you had to be fluent in Danish and I'm not, but I wanted to try anyway. After only a week and a half, the first company started calling me. The following week I had the first interview, the next week the second interview and three days later I had a job!“
Arriva is responsible for most of the public transport in Denmark. Ellinor works there with their decision-making system, among other things.
“I mainly work with our decision-making systems by producing analyses that are used for various reports, but I also help to further develop our programs. I maintain our databases and data warehouse and make sure that the right data is input. There must be a correct infromation base that is then used for the reports, such as how much diesel has been used this month or how many drivers we need next year. It will be a foundation that I help to produce for the decision-makers.“
“It is important to make contacts during the programme and to dare. Dare to make contact. Dare to ask. Dare to network. Leave business cards, ask if there is a project you can be involved in or work extra with,“ Ellinor advises.
“Of course, the language is a bit difficult at first, but my colleagues are very understanding and now I study Danish two evenings a week, so it has worked out well. I got a job in the area that I find interesting and I really enjoy it!“
