Business and economics remains a top choice among applicants

Lund University has received 71,404 applications for autumn 2026 studies, with 31,076 applicants selecting the University as their first-choice destination. Among the University’s most sought-after programmes, several are offered by LUSEM.

LUSEM popular for both programmes and courses

As in previous years, the Law Programme is the most popular programme, measured by the number of first-choice applicants, followed by the Bachelor Programme in Business Administration and Economics (Ekonomie kandidatprogrammet) and the Medical Programme. The Bachelor Programme in Business Administration and Economics thereby ranks as the second most popular programme at Lund University in terms of first-choice applicants, highlighting the continued strong interest in business and economics education.

LUSEM is also represented among the University’s most popular freestanding courses. Business Administration: Introductory Course places among the ten courses with the highest number of first-choice applicants for autumn 2026.

Nationally, the number of applicants to higher education has increased by 3 per cent compared with last year. At Lund University, the total number of applicants decreased slightly by 1.4 per cent, while the number of first-choice applicants decreased by 3.3 per cent.

Law Programme
Bachelor Programme in Business Administration and Economics
Medical Programme
Master of Science in Engineering in Industrial Engineering and Management
Master of Science Programme in Psychology

According to national admissions statistics, women account for 62.6 per cent of applicants and men for 37.4 per cent.
