“Björn Svensson's goal is clear - Lund University will produce the best informaticians in the country. ‘With the rapid pace of technological development, it is important to keep the programme up to date so that students are competitively positioned after graduation,’ he says. Now, he is being praised by the students for just that, but also for his ‘exceptionally good teaching ability’, his commitment and his way of working inclusively.“ (translated from swedish.)
This is how Björn was introduced in the brochure distributed to all those present at the University's academic ceremony, along with information and anecdotes about his implementation of AI in the education at the Department of Informatics. The University's Gold Medal and Administrative Prizes were also presented at the annual ceremony on 31 January. The second Prize for Excellence in Teaching was awarded to Per Carlsson at the Department of Biology.
Very honored to receive one of the highest recognitions that a lecturer at Lund university can receive.
Björn Svensson expressed his gratitude and thoughts about receiving the award through a post on LinkedIn.
“Very honored to receive one of the highest recognitions that a lecturer at Lund university can receive.
The Lund Students’ Prize for Excellence in Teaching from the Lund University Student Union Association is awarded at the annual commemorative ceremony of the inauguration of Lund University, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Erik Renström and the university leadership, the Deans, distinguished guests, and colleagues.
The award was presented by Tova Mark, president of LundaEkonomerna, along with the most kind and generous remarks that I have ever heard said about anybody’s teaching or work - let alone my own. A heartfelt thank you, Tova!“
